Happy Fourth of July, Solemates! We hope you have a safe and fun weekend celebrating the holiday with your family and friends.
Stan’s values high-quality craftsmanship in every pair of shoes that comes through our door. That’s why we order shoes from all over the world — including from right here at home! As we celebrate our country this weekend, we’re proud to feature shoes that were made right in our backyard.
Here are a few of our favorite Made in the USA shoes and brands.
New Balance MADE in USA 990v5
The 990v5 is part of the New Balance MADE in USA collection, meaning that it contains a domestic value of at least 70%. This high-quality shoe is made with an Ortholite® insert, a combination mesh and suede and upper, a blown rubber outsole, and ENCAP midsole cushioning. You’ll enjoy all-day comfort and support with this performance-minded, supremely supportive shoe.
Stan’s carries the 990v5 in multiple colors of both men’s and women’s styles. We love the durable construction, neutral colors, and intriguing texture of these shoes!
SAS US Handcrafted Shoes and Sandals
SAS is proud to have handcrafted its shoes in the US since the company was founded in 1976. A classic American dream story, SAS was started by partners Terry Armstrong and Lew Haydon, who began with one factory, 13 shoemakers, and a shared vision for how shoes should be made. Less than fifty years later, the company has expanded their quality leather shoes and sandals to stores around the world.
Here at Stan’s, we love carrying SAS shoes because of their variety of styles and quality of materials. The Nudu sandal is crafted from two-toned leather and ultra-soft suede; the Tour Mesh comfort athletic shoe features a leather and mesh upper, a removable antibacterial footbed, and an Arcfit™ Heel Stabilizer; and the Simplify moccasin loafer is made with soft leather and boasts a lightweight, shock-absorbing sole. No matter what you’re looking for, SAS is making it right here in the US!
Superfeet insoles began at the Sports Medicine Division of Northwest Podiatric Laboratory in Washington. Headquarters and manufacturing still remains in Ferndale, WA, and the company is 100% employee-owned. Since 1977, Superfeet has made inserts with their proprietary shape contoured to the shape of your foot.
Many of Stan’s shoes have removable inserts, leaving plenty of room to add Superfeet’s inserts to solve foot and ankle problems (such as plantar fasciitis), back pain, and knee issues. Superfeet Green, Superfeet Orange, and Superfeet Carbon insoles may be just the supportive solutions you need to reduce pain and increase comfort!
Smartwool Socks Made in the USA
Smartwool was built with a commitment to making their socks right here in the US, from their first steps of producing the socks to your first steps wearing them! Designed in Colorado and developed and made in the Appalachian region, Smartwool socks are made domestically from premium Merino wool imported from around the world.
Stan’s believes that a good pair of shoes should always be accompanied by an excellent pair of socks. That’s why we value Smartwool’s craftsmanship and use of Merino wool, which is an excellent performance fabric because of its soft, moisture-wicking, sustainable, and odor-neutralizing benefits. From no-show socks to crew socks and beyond, Smartwool Merino wool socks help keep your feet dry, comfortable, and warm for any adventure!
Sockwell believes in making their socks both sustainably and domestically. They farm their merino wool in the Rocky Mountains and manufacture and distribute their finished socks from throughout the southeastern US. From their Lifestyle Compression to Essential Comfort styles, you can trust that your socks were made here just for you!
Stan’s recommends Sockwell to anyone looking for a compression sock, whether just for comfort or for a health concern such as diabetes, pregnancy, and more. Every Lifestyle Compression sock includes four zones of graduated compression, an ultra smooth toe close, and feature-rich construction for an all day fit. Plus, custom-craft yarn blends keep your feet dry, prevent blisters, and regulate temperature.
These are just a few incredible brands with a passion for making their products in the US! Stan’s is proud to support domestically owned and operated companies, and we look forward to celebrating them this Fourth of July weekend and beyond.
