February is Share-A-Pair month at Stan’s! Our Share-A-Pair shoe drive is the heart of our business and we are honored and humbled to be able to give back to our local community for the last 16 years!  We believe there needs to be a life after the life you have had with your shoes! Did you get a pair of shoes for a wedding you only wore once? Or spontaneously purchased a pair of shoes that is no longer your style? Donate to any of our stores and we’ll take care of the rest! Our annual Share-A-Pair shoe drive has collected more than 310,000 new and gently-used pairs of shoes and new socks from our amazing Milwaukee community!

Did you know? Every night, over 1,500 people live on the streets of Milwaukee and many of them go without basic needs. We use our passion for shoes and community to give back and make a difference right in our own backyard. Make someone’s day by cleaning out your closet and donating a pair of shoes so we are able to give back to the amazing charity organizations we donate to.

This year all shoe donations for men, women, and children will be distributed locally to the Repairers of the Breach homeless day shelter in Milwaukee, Father Gene’s HELP Center and Milwaukee Rescue Mission. The rest of the shoes are given to Soles4Souls, a global not-for-profit organization that distributes shoes to impoverished people in over 125 countries around the world!

Let’s learn about the amazing non-profits we will be donating to this month:

About Repairers of the Breach:

Repairers of the Breach holds a wonderful place in our heart. We’ve had this partnership for many years and have even been able to do shoe fitting directly there. Established in 1991, Repairers of the Breach is Milwaukee’s only daytime homeless shelter, and they are open 6 days per week. Their mission is to combat homelessness by providing life-saving, life-sustaining, and life-restoring programs. They are the founders of the Emergency Warming Room, an emergency nighttime shelter to keep our neighbors safe and warm for those caught outdoors during the frigid temperatures in the winter.

There are many things in life that we can take for granted, something as simple as taking a shower or having a comfortable place to sleep isn’t something everyone has. Whether it be providing food, shelter, shoes, or healthcare, Repairers of the Breach are here in Milwaukee to provide as many resources as possible and be the support system to homeless people in the area.

About Father Gene’s Help Center:

Fr. Gene Jakubek founded Father Gene’s Help Center in 1969. Since then Father Gene’s Help Center has helped thousands of those in need by donating free clothing to people in the greater Milwaukee community. The Center accepts donations of new and gently used clothing and shoes for women, men, and children of all ages. Looking to volunteer to a wonderful cause? Their volunteer community is the backbone of what they do, and they are always accepting volunteers, as well.

They envision a transformed community where all people have access to clean, dignified clothing in which they feel confident and happy with how they carry themselves in the world! They believe every person deserves clean clothing and they strive to provide that right to those in need.
