Soles4Souls

With the overwhelming number of shoes we collect every year that aren’t able to find a second home here in Milwaukee, we turn to a national non-profit organization with an international reach, Soles4Souls.

The average American throws away more than 70 pounds of textiles every year, and only an estimated fifteen percent of that is donated or recycled.  Soles4Souls has kept 51 million pounds of shoes and clothing out of the landfills since 2006, distributing 35 millions pairs of shoes in 127 countries around the globe. The shoes you no longer want create opportunity many need.

Souls4Soles, a nonprofit based in Nashville. believes that everyone around the globe deserves a good pair of shoes. In many developing nations, walking is the primary mode of transportation.  With your help, Soles4Souls is able to provide a life-changing solution: a good pair of shoes. They not only provide relief for people in developing countries around the globe, but they also help bridge the economic gap in the US and Canada.

There are a number of other ways to get involved with Soles4Souls.  They make countless service trips every year, and are always looking for people.  Whether you’re part of a small group, by yourself, or part of a much larger organization like a church group, there are trips that will fit your needs.  You can spend a week giving back to those in need in the country of your choice.

Members of the Stan’s team Megan, our Director of Marketing  and Ben, our Director of Community Partnerships) were blessed to be able to travel to Guatemala in 2015 with Soles4Souls on a life changing trip.  During their time there, they were able to fit over 300 individuals with a life changing pair of shoes. Some people walked miles on foot to be able to get a pair.  One such individual was a 75 year old woman who traveled by foot from her village farther up in the Guatemalan mountains. It was truly a once in a lifetime, life changing experience.
