Milwaukee Rescue Mission

As we continue with our Share-A-Pair campaign this month, we thought it would be wonderful to share more about  some of the fantastic nonprofits we are blessed to partner with. First up, Milwaukee Rescue Mission.

Offering basic needs like shoes and clothing, food and shelter, is just a small portion of what Milwaukee Rescue Mission provides the people they help on a daily basis.

Since 1893, Milwaukee Rescue Mission has helped the hungry and hurting of Milwaukee to restore their lives and their hope. As the needs of the community have changed, MRM has changed to meet them.

The issues of poverty and homelessnes in Milwaukee are vast and complex, but they are not insurmountable.  MRM tackles these issues head on by serving the community with compassion and care. They offer practical assistance like food, clothing, and shelter.  THey also offer programs that can equip people experiencing homelessness with the tools to get off the streets and turn their lives around for good.

One of their bigger focuses is the Joy House.  Of the nearly 100,000 adults in Milwaukee living in poverty, 71% are women.  Often, these women are victims of domestic violence, but at Joy House guests will find safe shelter, nutritious meals, and life changing help throughout their long and short term Christian based programs.Women and children will find not only safe shelter, but the encouragement and resources to help rebuild their lives for good.

There are countless ways you can help on top of donating shoes to our Share-A-Pair drive. Volunteers are needed to help staff the nursery, provide tutoring and homework help, serving meals, and even helping with general maintenance.
