With summer in Milwaukee winding down, it’s time for us to put away our shorts & sandals and to start stylishly dressing in layers & boots!
Our Fall 2016 Pantone Fashion Color Report shows a variety of colors along the spectrum. Muted tones like warm taupe and airy blue pose as neutrals that would look great in a necktie dress shirt. For those who are more daring, a bodacious pink velvet dress or a graphic print top featuring lush meadow green are the perfect additions to your wardrobe.
Other clothing trends to consider this season are chokers, metallic pieces, off-the shoulder tops, and any menswear inspired looks. Mix any of these with the right footwear, and you’ll be set for fall in Milwaukee.
Suede Embrace the snow-free weather while you can and sport soft suede shoes and boots as you catch up with friends on a brisk Sunday morning over a handcrafted latte from Colectivo.
Block heels Never miss a beat during your workday in this office-friendly alternative to high heels. Perfect with an off-the-shoulder dress for a fun (and pain free!) night out at one of the Milwaukee Art Museum After Dark events!
Masculine Wing-tip oxfords aren’t just for men. Give it a trendy twist by layering a trench coat over your favorite dress before you head over to Milwaukee Fashion Week.
Ankle boot For a day of family-friendly activities at Apple Holler or a nearby pumpkin patch, ankle boots look super-cute when layered with a patterned Smartwool sock!
Pointy toe Want to dress to impress? A pointed-toe flat or heel can be paired with a velvet dress or necktie blouse for dinner at your favorite Bartolotta restaurant.
Sneakers Hit the trails at Wehr Nature Center or train for upcoming races with the New Balance Milwaukee Run Club in your favorite pair of running shoes. For a more casual look, pair with jeans and a puffer jacket.
Besides shopping for new additions to your wardrobe, what are you most excited to be doing in the fall in Milwaukee?
We’d like to thank Claire from Earth Brands and Faye Wetzel from Faye’s for the style inspiration!
Hi Colleen,
We carry several leather tie up sneakers in a few different support levels. We are also able to special order a size if we do not have it in stock. If possible, we suggest bringing your mom into one of our stores to get her feet measured. We may also be able to have someone visit her on location to measure her. We also have Certified Pedorthists on staff if she has specific foot needs. Feel free to send us an email at [email protected] with any questions you have!
