We would like to take a moment this week to thank Cassidy. She is a fourth grader from Swallow Elementary School in Hartland, and she has a really big heart.
In August, Cassidy and her mom were shopping at Stan’s when they had a conversation with Lisa, one of our Fit Specialists. Lisa told Cassidy about our annual Share-A-Pair shoe drive and the way it helps people experiencing difficulty both here in Milwaukee and around the world. When Cassidy heard this, she wanted to help school children in other countries walk to school safely with proper shoes on their feet. So Cassidy decided she would ask her friends and family to donate their gently-used shoes to our cause.
When Cassidy started school in September, she asked her new teacher if she could talk to her class about her project during the first week of school. Her teacher said yes, so Cassidy told her class about Share-A-Pair and Soles4Souls, the global non-profit that helps distribute our shoes around the world. Her speech inspired her classmates to get involved, and she collected nearly 200 pairs of shoes!

Cassidy is hopeful that donated shoes will help some children living in difficult circumstances feel better and allow them to get to school safely. Cassidy plans to continue collecting shoes for our shoe drive. She says she was really proud when she brought the shoes to Miss Lisa, because she was happy she had followed through on her promise to help less fortunate people.
We think Cassidy is a pretty special kid, and we’d like to thank her for her generous donation and huge, caring heart. Do you know someone who has donated a lot of shoes to our Share-A-Pair annual shoe drive? If so send us their story.
