As big box retailers, such as Macy’s, start announcing their plans for being open again this year on Thanksgiving, our local, family-owned business is continuing to remind people of standing for what you believe in and the importance of buying local.
We took a stand on this issue last year by remaining closed on Thanksgiving, and we are remaining firm. We believe that Thanksgiving is a special day to give thanks and for all of us to celebrate it with our families and friends. We will not be open for business on Thanksgiving.
Small businesses are the heart of America, and there are many people who feel the same way as we do. Thanksgiving is one of the few days left in a year where we can simply enjoy our families and friends. We want all of our employees and customers to be able to do this. Then, on Black Friday, we’ll be back open at 9:30 to provide you with the exceptional service you’ve come to expect from Stan’s and New Balance Milwaukee.
It’s also critical for you to realize that your buying decisions directly impact our local economy.
According to Local First Milwaukee, “for every $1 you spend at a locally owned business, more than $0.68 remains in Milwaukee, compared to the $0.43 that stays here from national chains. Non-profit organizations receive an average 250 percent more support from smaller business owners than they do from large businesses.”
Locally owned businesses are what give Milwaukee its character, and we hope you’ll stop by any of our three Stan’s Fit For Your Feet stores, as well as our two New Balance Stores, throughout the holiday season to see how special our family business is.
